Mechanics' Institute 153rd Graduating Class Ceremony was held Thursday May 26, 2011, 7 PMThe General Society's Mechanics' Institute, New York's oldest tuition-free technical school, wound up the academic year with a formal cap-and-gown ceremony. Completion of the MI's two and three-year programs represents a substantial achievement on the part of our students.
Registration for the Fall, 2011, semester will begin in August. Classes begin on Monday, September 12 and are limited to a maximum of thirty (30) students per class, so early registration is encouraged. Please call 212.840.7648 for more information.
The Mechanics' Institute programs provide state-of-the-art technical skills for application in alll facets of the building and construction industry. Our courses are open to men and women who are employed in the construction field or allied trades. Mechanics' Institute's traditional programs, including Construction Documents and Design, Electrical Technology, HVAC Systems Design, Plumbing Design, Construction Project Management, and Facilities Management are offered evenings, Monday through Thursday. State of the art procedures are constantly being introduced into our courses and new programs have been added in the past three years, including AutoCAD, and Historic Preservation.
