TECHNICAL PROGRAMS:

The Technical School offers construction trade programs, which will be expanded and updated on an ongoing basis. Program offering include: Electrical Technology, HVAC Systems Design, and Plumbing Technology & Design.

ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY:

The educational objective of the Electrical Technology program is to provide the student with an expanded understanding of advanced electrical principles as they apply to the construction trades. Core courses include Introduction to DC Circuits, Alternating Current Theory, Electrical Mathematics, and Commercial and Industrial Wiring. Elective courses in the program range from Electrical Motor Controls to Electrical Estimating Electronics.

HVAC SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY:

The educational objective of the HVAC Systems Design program is to provide the student with an expanded understanding of refrigeration theory and concepts as they apply to the industrial HVAC trades. Core courses Heat Load Calculations, Psychrometrics and Humidification, Refrigeration Cycle with pH Charts, and Centrifugal and Absorption Machines. Other required courses in the program range from Electric Power Supply for Refrigeration Systems and Ducts & Fans, and HVAC Equipment to Control Systems & Applications for HVAC and HVAC Hydronics. Mechanics Institute also offers a CFC Certification Program for students who have the requisite knowledge and technical experience to sit for the EPA?s Certified CFC test.

The educational objective of The Plumbing Technology program is to provide the student with an expanded understanding of refrigeration theory and concepts as they apply to the industrial HVAC trades. Core courses include Introduction to NYC Plumbing Code, Plumbing Theory, and Plumbing Design. Other required courses in the program range from Blueprint Reading to Plumbing Estimating.
